Report: Canadian copyright reform consultations could begin next week

The CBC has reported that Canadian government consultations on changes to Canada’s Copyright Act may begin as early as next week.

Canada’s government announced last month that it will introduce draft legislation, after consultations with copyright stakeholders, to bring Canada in line with its 1997 obligations to the World Intellectual Property Organization. The last two efforts at Canadian copyright reform failed, due to draft legislation dying on the order paper when elections were called.
